Those deep brown, innocent eyes stare into mine; knowing so little, but being so happy. She is better off than most of the world. She knows no pain or fear, no hurt of any significance; just the love her parents have shown her. That love, the bliss she finds playing in cool water, and the occasional, terrible occurance of having to take a nap is the world she knows.
The excellence of ignorance. She knows nothing of what her future holds for her. In her mind there is probably an extremely handsome prince with a white steed and a glorious castle in the future. No images of war, poverty, or famine destruct her mind; just the wonderful life ahead of her. As I sit there, I try to imagine that innocence. I try to take it as my own, but then I realize it won't come. I will never get it back again.
